‘Pirates Sweep Orioles for ‘Back to Back’ Titles’

The Annapolis Pirates won a close game against the Chesapeake Orioles, 4-2, to capture their second straight 25+ Chesapeake MSBL Championship.

The Chesapeake Orioles captured the lead early when the Annapolis Pirates starting pitcher Brooks Rothschild walked David Kosc with the bases loaded. It wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Annapolis Pirates tied things up at one when Matt Flemister hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run. The Annapolis Pirates took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. The game was tied at one with Annapolis Pirates batting in the bottom of the sixth when Martin Leslie induced Austin Drewyer to hit into a fielder’s choice and Rich Clark singled driving in two more runs.

Brooks Rothschild earned the win for Pirates by throwing eight innings, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out 12. Josh Brown recorded the last three outs to earn the save for PiratesLeslie took the loss for Chesapeake Orioles, he tossed seven innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out three.

The Pirates have been in existence since 1994 and in 2017 The Annapolis Pirates broke three Individual Season Records and tied another.
