2016 Tampa Yankees Post Amazing Comeback Season in Central Florida

‘Yankees Post Amazing Comeback Year in Central Florida’
Submitted by Lenny Linardos, Yankees manager
The Tampa Yankees baseball team of the Central Florida Adult Baseball League has been together for seven years through three different baseball leagues while never having a record of over .500, as well as never winning two playoff games in seven seasons. At the end of the 2015 three senior players told me that they were tired of losing and couldn’t take much more. In the off-season the players and I began a relentless recruiting spree, ultimately adding four new players to make the difference. The difference was from a 9-11 record the season before to a 22-3 season in 2016, which included a May 15 to Oct 2nd 18 game winning streak.
After winning the first game of the championship series against the powerhouse Bradenton Pirates, the Yankees dream season was ended after losing the next two games to the Pirates and finishing the season with a very respectable second place. We also played in five tournaments this year and between the tournaments and our league play we made it to the finals four times. Hopefully next year will get us over the top. The entire Yankees team wish to thank the MSBL for two wonderful seasons with a pleasant organization.
