Submitted by David Pratt, Red River President

The Shreveport Scorpions won their second consecutive RRABL 45+ Championship with a 10-1 victory over the Ruston Dawgs. In a rematch of last year’s title game that came down to the final inning, the Scorpions ended the drama early this time around by plating six runs in the second inning and they cruised from there. Pitcher Bobby Malmay tossed seven innings, scattering five hits while allowing just one run and Kris Griffin went 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. The championship is the fourth in six years for manager Max Hahnel and his Scorpions franchise, formerly the Diablos. The club also took home the hardware in 2011, 2013, and 2015. Charles Dean was selected as the Scorpions and League MVP for hitting .528 (19-for-36) with 21 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 11 games played.

Scorpions MVP Charles Dean played on all three division champion teams. He was the MVP on the 45+ champion Scorpions, the manager and player on the 35+ champion Storm, and a player on the 21+ champion Outlaws.
