2016 Savannah Reds Post 13-2 Season, Fall to Braves in Championship Series

Savannah Adult Baseball League 33+ Division

Submitted by Kevin Mobley, Reds Manager

The three game Championship series was played between the Braves and the six time champion Reds. Game one was an excellent game won by the Braves 4 to 3 in extra innings. The winning run scored on a sacrifice fly.

Game two was won by the Reds 4 to 0. The Reds won behind the strong pitching of ex-Texas Rangers lefty Ben Kozlowski who pitched a complete game.

Game Three took place about thirty minutes after the end of game two, with both teams dealing with the heat and humidity of coastal Georgia in late August. In another excellent contest the Braves held off a late rally by the Reds to win 7 to 5 to end the Reds championship run at six . The Reds trailed 7 to 3 with two out and no one on in the bottom of the last inning. But like true champions the Reds scored two runs and had the bases loaded when the last out was recorded by the Braves. Congratulations to Chris Phillips and the Savannah Braves on an excellent season. Both the Braves and Reds finished the regular season with 13 and 2 records.

Thanks for all the MSBL does for adult baseball in the US and around the world…KM
