The Bandits defeated the Cardinals to win their second consecutive 55+ championship and cap another undefeated season. The Bandits went 10-0 in the regular season and then swept into the finals with 13-1 and 11-2 wins. The first game saw an excellent pitcher’s duel with the Bandits coming out on top 3-1 behind starting pitcher Mike McGlaughlin. McGlaughlin and Derek Dubard drove in the runs to give the Bandits the 1-0 series lead.

The Bandits bats awoke in game two as they pounded out 17 hits in the 12-5 victory. John Timpano and McGlaughlin had three hits apiece in the game, while Rick Weissenstein, Garland Cooper, Luke Thayer and Jay Dennis each had two hits apiece. Matt Mohay got the win for the Bandits to bring their 2-year record to 27-0-1

Timpano and Tim Sullivan led the Bandits in hitting during the year, batting .594 and .556 respectively. McGlaughlin, Dubard, Dave Treherne, Frank Cappello, Luis Andrade, and Garland Cooper all hit over .400 for the season while Jay Dennis, Luke Thayer, McGlaughlin and Mohay led the pitching staff that gave up only four runs per game.

“It was a great season for us,” said Coach Frank Cappello. “Our pitching staff was consistent and we hit the ball very well, and in clutch situations. We know we have the target on us going in to next season.
