‘Undefeated Regular Season Leads to Back-to-Back Titles’

Submitted by Jim Bonaparte, Indians manager

This was a very exciting year for the Indians as we ran our regular season winning streak to 47 games and finished 27-1 for second consecutive season defeating a very good Reds team three games to none to sweep the finals and claim back to back titles in the Capital District 35+ division. We were led by a very strong pitching staff, where B J Roberts was 8-0 with two saves while tossing 50 innings. He gave up only one earned run with a era of 0.14 while claiming the league CY Young award. Also, Jami Burnetter was 7-0 with a 0.72 era and was the CY Young winner the previous season.

Offensively Will Horan claimed his second consecutive MVP with a .431 average with five home runs and 37 RBI while catching every game. Fernando Robleno hit .500 , Eric Joyce .489, BJ .472, Jami .442, Adam Anderson in his rookie year posted an average of .419 as well as Rookie of the Year honors and Mike Ruffinen chipped in .444 and Quentin Jensen .423. We set a record for runs scored with 248 while only allowing 29. This is a very cohesive bunch and make a coaches life easy and truly a joy to coach. We look forward to defending our title in the spring.
