Anchored by two existing powerhouses, the Sacramento Cardinals and the Auburn Braves, the league added the Giants and Royals in 2016 to round off an extremely competitive five team upper division.

With identical records, the Royals won the the regular season over the Giants (per head to head tiebreaker) to gain a first round bye. The Braves, who placed only one game behind the Giants, garnered the wildcard earning the third spot for a one game playoff versus the Giants.

The Giants beat the Braves 3-0 in the semi-final behind a complete game shutout from Giants ace Terry Callahan. Auburn starter Dave Kephart was saddled with the loss despite turning in an equally impressive performance.

Advancing to the best-of-three final, the Giants offense exploded for 11 runs to defeat the Royals 11-4 in game one. The offense continued in the second and final game as the Giants escaped narrowly defeating the Royals 12-11 to take the crown.

Giants starting pitcher Dave Absher (a converted catcher), dominated game one throwing a complete game before returning on two days rest to pitch the final four innings of game two and collect the win.
