2016 Dublin Tigers Tame Barracudas for Central Ohio MABL Championship

Central Ohio MABL

Dublin Tigers 9, Columbus Barracudas 1

‘MVP Otto Shuts Down Barracudas on Bump’

The 17 year wait for Coach Andy Halk to win a League Championship is over as his Dublin Tigers are the 2016 COMABL champions! The Tigers defeated the Columbus Barracudas on October 2nd in game three of the LCS to win their first League Championship ever. The Tigers won 9-1 in the deciding game of the Best of Three Series. The Tigers were led by the pitching of forty-eight year old Greg Otto who threw a complete game in the deciding game allowing only one run. Game three was the second start of the series for Otto who also threw a complete game in game one of the series the day before. Greg Otto was named Championship Series MVP as he was 2-0 on the mound with 16 innings pitched allowing two runs, all in a two day period.

As championship stories go, the 2016 Tigers had it all. One last stand for Dan McGinnis, a retiring league all-star who became a key figure in The Tigers club house. Loads of bright young stars, with Chris Day turning in an MVP performance. The best prolific performance in Columbus MABL postseason history, a 40 something Greg Otto shined while saving the Tigers season and securing their first championship ever!

Halk, and his eccentric personality, cemented his status as one of the game’s best managers in league history as the Tigers become the first team in Columbus since 2004 to win the Championship that are not named the Titans, Knights or Bison. This championship was a truly terrific team achievement built upon an immortal fairy tale where dreams came true!!
