‘Georgia Dawgs Capture Second Title in Three Years’

The Georgia Dawgs are the 2016 Champions in the 35+ division of the West Metro Atlanta MSBL in Atlanta, Georgia for the second time in three years. In the championship game the GA Dawgs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with the big hit coming off the bat of Patrick Galliard with a 2-run double. The Dawgs gave up the three run lead when the Blue Jays scored three runs in the top of the fourth and a single run in the fifth. The GA Dawgs bounced back with seven runs in the sixth to regain the lead and also scored two in the seventh to take a commanding 12-4 lead. The Blue Jays clawed back with three runs in the eighth and the Dawgs answered with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to end the scoring in the 14-7 win.

Joe Tatham had a tough luck no decision after pitching five innings and giving way to Scott Bradley who took over in the sixth to pick up the win in relief. Scott Bradley had five strike outs and one walk in four innings.

The Dawgs bats had been quiet after the first inning until they erupted in the sixth, scoring seven runs behind Patrick Galliard’s 3-run double, and Don Corr’s 2-run single to take a 10-4 lead into the seventh. The Dawgs scored two more runs each in the seventh and eighth innings to finish their scoring.

The GA Dawgs were lead at the plate by Patrick Galliard with three hits and five RBIs, Matt Winters with three hits, Tommy Hayes and Brandon Perkins with two hits each, and Tommy Thompson and Don Corr had three RBI each.

After starting the season 9-0 the Dawgs suffered their lone defeat of the season at the hands of the Blue Jays before winning there last four games plus a playoff game and the championship game to be crowned league champions.
