2016 Bandits Repeat in Continental Division of Los Angeles Baseball League

Los Angeles Baseball League, Continental Division

Westlake Bandits 7, LA Titans 5

‘Wells and Gould Combine to Stop Titans’

Submitted by Bob Sherwin, Bandits manager

The Westlake Bandits won the championship game in the Los Angeles Baseball League 35+ Continental Division playoffs. The Bandits finished first in regular season play going 19-1-1 and then advanced to the post season championship game by beating the Hollywood Stallions 17-4 in the semi-final round. In the championship game, the Bandits prevailed over the LA Titans 7-5 in a nine inning nail-biter contest. Jeff Wells picked up the win going 5 2/3 innings and keeping the hard hitting Titans in check. Jeff Gould finished the last 3 1/3 and got the save. Darren Hubert had a clutch double to knock in two runs for the Bandits.

The Bandits fielded a team with five players over 60 years, including manager/2nd baseman Bob Sherwin (68) and ageless infielder Mark Gorman (69) and four other players over 50. Yes….age matters! A great season for the Bandits as they capture their second straight post season LABL championship!
