When I started the White Sox team five years ago, I did not expect to have the amount of success that we have had over the years. This was our fifth straight championship series to compete in and quite possibly the most intense. Game one ended in a 4-1 loss to the Reds after a brilliant performance by the Reds pitcher Brandon Scucchi and our starter Brandon Waddell. Game two displayed the talent of Zach Davis on the mound. The hard throwing lefty controlled the entire game leading us to a 11-0 shutout win to force a rubber match in Game three. The Championship game pitted our seasoned veteran right-hander Charlie Kreps against the Reds’ ace Nick Miller in what turned into a very tense, hard fought competitive game. Ultimately, our hitters proved to be too much for the Reds. Our lineup from top to bottom contributed offensively securing our second back-to-back championship in five years with a 14-4 win.

With hitters like Zach Davis, Josh Fisher, James Snyder, and Charlie Kreps combined with a lock down defense lead by Seth Hyder, Tyler Jewell, and Steven Lucas, this year’s White Sox team averaged 11 runs over the course of the playoffs and only allowed two runs per game. Contributors to this Championship team also included Justin VanLandingham with a key double in Game three and consistent defensive play by right fielder Matt Loggins. Also, Chris McNulty was fantastic on the mound all season. Kent Gartin and Eric Tedford provided great depth to this team throughout the entire regular season and playoff run.
