Submitted by Joe Tufo, Spinners manager
In a rematch of the 2013 MABL championship finals in the Boston MABL, the Cambridge Spinners would get their redemption, defeating Ben’s Dream White Sox 3-1 in the best of five series.
The Spinners capped off a great season with a 13-5 win over the White Sox. Marty Clarke earned the win, going five innings while striking out three. On short rest, the league Cy Young, Dan Blum, closed the final two innings to seal the championship. The offense was led by Ryan Gaffney, who had four hits and drove in four runs. Eight different Spinners had hits and everyone in the lineup reached base at least once.
Throughout their playoff run the Spinners were backed by solid pitching performances, guided by Luc Kocher and Dan Blum, while the pitching staff were a combined 8-1 with a 2.15 ERA. The offense outscored their opponents 63-21.
This is the Spinners third appearance in the finals and their first MABL Championship since joining the league back in 2009.
