In their first year in the Fresno Men’s Baseball League the Fresno Rays finished in first place in the 35+ Division for the 2015 season and followed that by winning the Championship in the playoffs.

The Fresno Rays, a newly formed team in the Fresno Men’s Baseball League, won the championship in a hard-fought best of three game series against a tough Hardcor team. On September 13th the Rays lost game one of a double header by a score of 11-5. They battled back in the second game to win by a score of 6-4. In the third and final game played on September 20th, the Rays won by a score of 5-4 to win the 35+ Division Championship.

The final game was scoreless going to the top of the third inning when Hardcor scored two runs and took a 2-0 lead. Not to be outdone, the Fresno Rays bounced back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning and never looked back, winning the game 5-4. Ruben Fernandez Jr. went 1-1, walked three times, stole three bases and scored three runs leading the team to victory. Augie Hernandez pitched nine innings to earn the win.

The Fresno Rays are to be commended for their great season. They ended the year with a record of 18-5 including playoff games, which was the best record in all the divisions. Ruben Fernandez Jr. and Miguel Arellano managed the team this year. Some of the other key players include Augie Hernandez, Jose Ortiz, Sal Gonzalez and Martin Mendoza. These players joined up with Hardcor team members to compete in the MSBL World Seriesin Arizona. Congratulations to the Fresno Rays on a great season!!
