‘Rangers Dethrone Seven Time Consecutive Champion Hurricanes’

Submitted by Jason Gonzalez, Rangers manager

The Rangers formed in 1996 and I was handed over the managerial reins in 2013 when we came into the Lehigh Valley MSBL. We have totaled six championships throughout the years, including 2002, 2004, 2010, 2011 and 2012, with 2015 being our first title in the Lehigh Valley MSBL tough Black and Blue Division. We have totaled seven runner-up finishes while this is our third year in this MSBL league. We came into the league because we were told that it is better competition and we haven’t been disappointed.

Our championship series against the perennial powerhouse and defending champion Hurricanes took all three games.

In game one, Ranger ace Daron Whitmore tossed a complete game shut-out against a very solid Hurricanes squad going nine innings, giving up only two hits, and striking out 11.

In game two, the Hurricanes come out blasting and beat us 13-0 on the arm of Gregg Taylor, while they mercy ruled us.

In the Championship game, Rangers rookie pitcher Joshua Brietholz stepped up to get the win, scattering seven hits over six innings while allowing just one earned run. We mercy ruled the Canes 13-1 to clinch the series. The MVP of the series was Joe Wernimont, who went 7-10 with six RBI.
