Cleveland Steve’s Sports won the Cleveland MSBL 25+ championship and improved to an impressive 20-0 record on the season. Steve’s beat the Midwest Mariners by a score of 3-0 in the championship game which was played at historic and newly renovated League Park.

In what most would call a dominant season, Steve’s outscored its opponents 173-28, this game was a pitcher’s duel. Steve’s plated its first run in the bottom of the fourth inning off the bat of John Ramsey. That would prove to be all starter Nick Carucci needed as he was outstanding. In six innings pitched, Carucci scattered four hits while striking out nine Mariner batters. Reliever John Sprowls came into the game in the seventh inning striking out the side. Steve’s would add a couple insurance runs in the eighth as Todd Moyer doubled deep off the right field wall. Steve Ross led all Cleveland hitters with three hits. Pitcher Jeff Salay would come in the ninth inning and bring home the championship.

Steve’s Manager/Catcher John Ramsey summed it up afterwards. “This was a perfect end to a perfect season,” said Ramsey. “Last season, despite winning the Fall Classic, we finished the season with only one loss and a 31-1 record. As great as our season was last year, that sole loss still stings.”

Steve’s will look to continue perfection as it looks to repeat in the Capital City Classic in Columbus, Ohio next month. Steve’s will also be defending their championship at this year’s MSBL Fall Classic in Clearwater Florida.
