Delaware MSBL

Broadway-Bound/Brick Bat Brewers 7, Walton Drillers 1

‘Brewers Make it Three in a Row Behind Hein and Kuhl’

Submitted by Ken Lagowski, Brewers manager

The Broadway-Bound Brick Bat Brewers swept the best-of-three finals, 2-0, over the Walton Drillers, capturing their 13th championship in the 23 year history of the Delaware MSBL. In the first game Rick Hein threw a one-hit complete game while Clint Kuhl followed it with a six-hit complete game in the nightcap on Sunday, October 11th at St. Mark’s High School field. The last 11 league championships have been won by either the Brewers or the Drillers. This is the third consecutive title for the Brewers.

Clint Kuhl’s younger brother, Chad, was recently voted the Pittsburgh Pirates organization-wide minor league pitcher of the year this season. The original Brewers enjoying the three-peat include manager Ken Lagowski, Chris Trate, Joe Morales, Orval Foraker, Bert Talley and Bob Welch. Bob had to leave after the game and wasn’t able to take part in the picture above.
