In the Sacramento MSBL the Blue Jays finished the seasonwith a total record of 19-2-1, giving up their only regular season loss to the Generals.

In the first round of the Playoffs, the Blue Jays just squeaked past the Folsom A’s 5-4 after 10 innings on a bases-loaded two-out error by the A’s. Then the Jays moved on to face the White Sox in a best of three Championship Series. The White Sox were a team that came from behind to give the Blue Jays their only tie in regular season.

In game one the White Sox put the Blue Jays immediately on their heels, winning in shut-out fashion 3-0 behind great pitching by their lefty, Gavin Lee.

A week later in games two and three, the White Sox started their ace lefty again while the Blue Jays started their ace, Brandon Copsy. The White Sox took an early 2-run lead and Copsy left the game in the third with a sore shoulder. Daniel Viegas took the mound. Viegas had just pitched seven innings for another team that morning, but he was pivotal in holding off the White Sox and earned the win 17-6 behind late team hitting and George Daw’s home run.

With the series tied 1-1, Viegas started game three with only 30 minutes rest. He would go on to pitch 18 total innings that day. Lex Lopez’s home run and more late hitting by the team earned the Blue Jays a 13-4 win and the championship title. Said Whitesel, “I really enjoyed my rookie season as manager of the Blue Jays. We had a lot of things go right this year and finished 16-1-1 in the regular season. It was a great season and a lot of fun!”
