‘Deitch and Soloman Lead the Way’

For its inaugural year, the GPMABL Classic 35+ division operated as a friendly rivalry, but after a spirited championship series, theBad News Bears prevailed in a 2-0 sweep. Nick Weisheipl came on in relief to preserve a tie into extra innings in game one, then scored on a 10th-inning,Fred Mahoney walk-off suicide squeeze. Dennis Deitch threw eight strong innings and Robert Soloman’s hits paced the offense in game two to complete the Bears’ inaugural Championship sweep.
