2015 Bandits Make it a Three-Peat in Central Alabama
Central Alabama Baseball Association 35+ Division
Bandits 9, A’s 1
‘Bland Leads the Way on the Hill’
Submitted by Mike Henry, Central Alabama Bandits
The Bandits delivered their third championship in a row in the Central Alabama Baseball Association 35-over division after defeating an extremely tough A’s team 9-1 in the championship game. The Bandits faced an uphill battle having lost to the A’s three times during the regular season. Nathan Bland led the Bandits on the hill pitching to Greg Hammond behind the dish. Bland held the A’s to only one run that happened in the top of the first but the Bandits defense buckled down starting with a diving play by Daniel Sims in center to save a potential bases clearing hit.
The bats were hot and the Bandits put three runs on the board in the bottom of the second. That would be enough for Bland who was throwing darts and mixing it up with some filthy breaking stuff that kept the A’s guessing and unable to add to their only run. It was truly a great baseball match up with the A’s having the Bandits number each time they met in the season and the Bandits hoping to retain their title for the third straight year. When the dust settled, the Bandits were left holding the trophy and enjoying the title of three peat champions!
