‘Phillips Named Series MVP’

The Bay City’s A’s completed a two game sweep of the 2015 Northeast Wisconsin MSBL championship series by defeating the Kaukauna Islanders 15-0 at Southwest Field. The A’s were led in game two by Mike Phillips, who pitched a complete game shutout for the A’s. He scattered three hits over nine innings, walking two and striking out six. The A’s won game one the previous night in Kaukauna 10-6 to open the series behind an iron man performance from Dave Nipp, who was able to earn a complete game victory for the A’s by throwing an incredible 180 pitches.
Offensively the A’s were led in the series by the trio of Brad Archambeau (6-8 with 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored, including 2 singles, 3 doubles and a triple), Lucas Martell (5-10 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored), and Mike Phillips (4-10 with 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored). Overall the A’s pounded out 32 hits in the two games. Matt Jenkins had two doubles to pace the Kaukauna attack in the series.
Mike Phillips was named the series MVP for the A’s. The A’s finished up the 2015 campaign with a 13-3 record overall, while Kaukauna finished at 11-5.
