‘Garrett Guillory Takes Series MVP Honors’

Submitted by Bryce Martel, manager

The Acadiana Angels, coached by Bryce Martel, are your 2015 AABL Spring League Champions. They were able to grind out a best of three series with the Acadiana White Sox. The Angels had fallen in the first game 9-5, but were able to tie it back up with a 5-4 win in game two. The finale ended up being all Angels with a hard fought 7-4 victory. This is the third championship for the Angels. They were up 2-0 through the fifth inning when in the top of the sixth the White Sox scored four runs to make it 4-2. The Angels quickly responded with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-4. The Angels pitching was solid and so was the defense, while only recording one error. Garrett Guillory ended up getting Championship Series MVP with impressive pitching and hitting. The Angels and the White Sox had met up in the regular season twice and both times The Angels were able to come out on top.

The Angels came into the league in 2011 as the Yankees. In 2014, with Bryce Martel as the coach, they became the Angels. As of 2012 their record stands at 48-12-2. Also, since 2012 they have come out of the regular season as #1 seed every year. The impressive thing about the Angels is they are mostly made up of local high school players from Lafayette parish and few have ever played college. They were also able to win their three championships with vastly different players every year.
