‘Three Titles in Four Years’

Submitted by Jeremy Green, Aces manager

It was a great tournament to end the season in the Mid-Iowa Baseball League 18+ division. The Iowa Aces’ (13-2) road to the championship included a 9-0 rout of the Black Sox in which the Aces were backed by a combined shutout of six strong innings by Colton Barton and 56 year-old John Linden closing out the game. In the semi-finals the Aces had another tough match-up against the Bandits, prevailing once again 7-2. Dillan Crawley pitched a complete game to get the “W”.

This set up the championship game between the Iowa Aces and the Des Moines .45’s Baseball Club for the third straight season! The Aces scored early in the top of the second and they never looked back. The top five batters hit a combined 9 for 17, three doubles, one home run, eight runs scored, and six RBI. The winning pitcher, Jason McPherson, threw a complete game holding the .45s to two runs on seven hits, two walks and four strikeouts. The Aces won the game 8-2 to claim back-to-back titles and three of the last four.
