Submitted by Randy Crane, Oregon Tigers managerThe top of the first inning for the Capitals began with a ground ball out followed by a hit batsman and a two run homer down the right field line. The half inning ended with back to back strikeouts by winning pitcher Travis Kelley. In the bottom of the first the Tigers came back with four runs on five hits and a walk, including a two-RBI single by Drew Spence. In the bottom of the second with two outs, center fielder Kyler Dickey came up with a double followed by a single by Randy Crane and an RBI double by shortstop Brandon Bowdle. The Capitals lead off the third with a double and an RBI single before Travis made it out of the inning. In a 3-5 game in the sixth, the Capitals turned a lead off single into a run with a stolen base, a fielder’s choice and a squeeze bunt to make it a one run game but the Tigers responded in the bottom half with back to back singles by third baseman Matt Whitfield and first baseman Jon Spence. They were both batted in by RBI singles by JJ Johnson and Drew Spence to seal the title for the Tigers 7-4.
Starting pitcher Travis Kelly finished with seven innings pitched, three earned runs, seven hits, two walks and struck out eight.
