It was a typical Rockies versus Pirates battle. We have seen each other in five of the last nine championship games. We always say you’ve gotta score double digits to beat the Pirates and this was definitely one of those games. We took an early7-3 lead into the third inning but the Pirates battled back, led by two home runs by Francisco Mendoza, to take an 11-8 lead into the sixth. Brad Marsh then hit a two run bomb for us to start a five-run inning and Chris Robert added a solo moon shot in the seventh. We didn’t look back from that point.
Brad Marsh was definitely the MVP of the game, as he went 2-3 and pitched four innings of one-run ball in relief for the win.
