The St. Claire Shores (MI) Redbirds won 11 of their final 12 games to capture the regular-season title (25-5) and swept through the playoffs outscoring their opponents 65-8 en route to their second consecutive world series title. The Redbirds have won three of the last four St. Clair Shores World Series titles.
Aaron Wick was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and Pitcher, just missing the batting title at .492. Manager Joe Small earned Gold Glove honors and hit .611 in six playoff games. Jon Van Son was named World Series MVP after smashing two home runs and hitting .533, while Sean Dobson was the RBI champ with 27, edging Wick by one.
The stellar rotation of Aaron Wick, Ryan Ford and Anthony Vitale finished a combined 22-2, with a microscopic 0.80 ERA. The Redbirds gave up just one run in the three-game World Series sweep over the White Sox and nine of the Redbirds hit .313 or higher for the playoffs.
