The New River Valley Cardinals won the Blue Ridge Mountain Adult Baseball League championship with a 6-3 victory over the Orioles on September 7th. It was back to back championships for the Cardinals as they took home the title in 2013 as well. The championship game was held at historic Calfee Park in Pulaski VA, one of the oldest minor league ballparks in the country. Just a few days after the game, the New York Yankees’ Brian Cashman made an appearance at the ballpark to announce that the Yankees would be placing a minor league team at the field and in the Appalachian League.
