2014 Dirtbags Top the Riptide in Santa Barbara for 18+ Crown

The Santa Barbara Dirtbags capped off an impressive 15-1-1 season with a 3-2 victory over the Riptide in the 18+ Santa Barbara MABL Championship at Pershing Park. Danny Graybill (10-1) went eight strong innings allowing two earned runs. Mario Guilin threw a gem going seven straight scoreless innings until the Dirtbags broke open a 0-0 game in the eighth scoring three runs to take the lead. Catcher Morgan Moore singled up the middle, shortstop Brendan O’Donnell walked, and catcher/outfielder Jeremy Howard hit a bases clearing triple to right center. He scored on a error from third making it three runs in the eighth for the ‘Dbags’. The Riptide, (10-5-1) bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the eighth and were threatening in the ninth with two on and nobody out. The Dirtbags made a double switch bringing in a new battery. Shortstop Brendan O’Donnell came in to pitch and Jeremy Howard went behind the plate, relieving Graybill and Moore. Brendan O’Donnell proceeded to strike out the side getting the save and leading the Dirtbags to victory!
