Congratulations to the Burlington Cardinals, the 2014 Vermont Men’s Senior Baseball League Champions. In a game that was hard fought and well played by both teams, the Cardinals bested the Bison of Charlotte 1-0, scoring their one run late in this Division 1 final.
Played at Montpelier’s Rec Field in perfect baseball weather this game featured an incredible pitching duel between the Cardinals’ Bill Lee and the Bison’s Gary MacDonald. Both the pitching and the stellar defensive play by both teams made for a remarkable baseball game. A special note of appreciation is due to Bill and “Mac” for their performances.
In the first game of the day, Waterbury defeated Mad River in the Division 2 finals.
With the final round of the Division 3 tournament a forfeit win forNorthfield, each team finished with 1 win and 1 loss apiece.
Congratulations are also in order for the Williston team for leading the league in season play with a 15 – 1 record.
