Great team effort by the Braves to win the Indiana Baseball League 45-over championship against a very good Reds team. Matt Boyd started us off with five innings of great pitching by giving up only one earned run. Matt also had a couple of hits with two RBI’s. What can you say about Joe Striewe! Found out the week before the championship game he has a medial meniscal tear and a muscle strain in his knee. Didn’t think he could go on game night but came in and gave us three great innings of pitching to help the cause.
The 10 run fifth inning was the difference with everyone contributing in some fashion. Our fifth inning started off with a hit by Brian Wolf then followed by walk to Scott Golden. Pete Kasper got a hit to drive in Brian. Graig Collings came up with an RBI single. Matt Boyd followed with an RBI single. Kevin Dotson came thru with a RBI double.Ray Starnes then walked and Mike Fisher got plunked in the back for a hit by pitch. Todd Fuller then walked with the bases loaded before we made our first out of the inning. We scored a total of 10 runs in the fifth then held on to win. Another great year for the Braves! We played the championship game without two players who were out with broken fingers which both required surgery. This makes two championships in a row for the Braves.
