Submitted by Ray Morris, Charleston (SC) MSBLFor the second season in a row, the league’s best record went to the Nationals, 11-2, but they fell short again in the championship series.
The Nationals were led in the playoffs by manager and infielder Tony Ferrantino, outfielder Doug Lietzke, speedy infielder Shannon Steele and pitcher, lefty Sam Piro.
John Neff’s average of .575 for the season led the Braves along with the help of team. Last season John Neff tore his achilles and was sidelined after game 3. He returned to lead the league in batting average and coached his team to a second straight championship.
Jack Duane was the comeback player of the year along with John Neff.
