2014 Barons Capture 18+ Open National Title in North Texas

The Dallas Barons, managed by Robbie Estill, won the 18+ Open National NTABL championship by sweeping the Dallas Panthers in a best of three series. In the opener David Humen threw a complete game for the Barons.Cole White had a home run, double and three RBI, Dave DePaul knocked in two runs with a double and Kody Kroll added another leading the Barons to a 7-2 win. Humen, the 2014 Cy Young winner, finished the season at 14-0 for the Barons.
In game two, the Barons rallied from down 3-0 by scoring four runs in the fourth inning, led by a three-run home run by Ryan Saldivar, and held on to win 7-6. Kroll and Kevin Brand also knocked in runs. CJ Muir got the win for the Barons throwing six-plus innings and Dave McClanahan relieved throwing the final three plus preserving the clinching game. The Barons finished the year at 23-3 and led the league from wire to wire winning their 12th league championship in their 42 year history as an organization. Robbie Estill won his first championship as the Barons skipper and also played left field for the club as well as notching seven wins on the mound. Other long-time members of the Barons who contributed significantly included Mike Cohen (3B), Dave Wilson (1B), Dave DePaul (OF) and James Gardner (OF). Newcomers Glenn Wilson (C), Cole White (IF) and Chance Tabor (CF) were team leaders at the plate all year long and returning Baron teammates Ryan Saldivar, Kevin Brand, Brett Scroggins and Kody Kroll excelled at the plate and defensively.
