A baseball catcher in front of the capitol building.“Washington DC MSBL player Vince Towns, who is part of the 40+ and 50+ Mustangs Baseball Club, pitched a 7-inning perfect game on June 30, 2024.  Vince was dominant from the first pitch to the last pitch of the game in the 50+ game versus the second-place Hawks in the 4-0 victory.  He struck out eight batters, induced eight ground outs, and five flyouts.  His bid for perfection was only tested once on a hard grounder up the middle that was fielded by the second baseman on a fine play to get the runner at first by a step.

Vince followed up his perfect game with a nine-inning, one-hit shutout on July 7, 2024, in which he recorded 11 strikeouts.  He beat another solid team in the Athletics and was masterful in mixing his fastball, slider, knuckleball, and change-up to keep the batters off balance. Vince did not walk a batter and only allowed two base runners (on a sharp single over the first baseman and on a defensive throwing error) in the game. MSBL veteran catcher Joe Walsh caught both pitching gems and was instrumental in helping Vince achieve this level of success.

Vince is well known in the Washington DC MSBL, and at national MSBL tournaments for his pitching prowess and his hitting ability, routinely hitting home runs and scorching line drives.”
