San Quentin Baseball Program is Looking for Teams to Fill-out Their 2019 Season

Dear MSBL friends,

My name is Michael Kremer and I lead the inmate baseball program at San Quentin Prison in Marin County, California. The baseball experience at San Quentin is truly a one-of-a-kind. There is a full baseball diamond in the prison yard, and the inmate team is competitive against most men’s league teams. In addition to the adult baseball side of things, the experience of outside teams getting to meet and spend time with the inmate players is generally seen as incredibly rewarding on both sides.

We hosted several MSBL teams for games last summer at San Quentin and the experience was positive memorable for all involved. As we put together our 2019 schedule (May-October), we would like to extend an open invitation to any MSBL team that would like a chance to play baseball in a one-of-a-kind setting.

The prison administration and the inmate team takes great care to ensure the safety of all visitors, and speaking from years of experience being involved with the program I have never felt the slightest bit unsafe or threatened inside the prison. A New York Times documentary from a few years ago provides a good sense of the value of the baseball program inside the prison.

I am writing to you now to encourage any teams interested in playing and experiencing this wonderful opportunity to please contact me. Any teams wishing to play should reach out directly to me at sqbaseballprogram@gmail.com

Thank you in advance for your participation and I look forward to speaking with you!

Sincerely,

Michael Kremer
