MSBL Player Profile: Jason Houston, Central Arkansas Men’s Baseball League

Submitted by Chris Hall, Central Arkansas League President

Jason Houston is the long-time shortstop for the Little Rock Pirates of the 25+ Division in the Central Arkansas Men’s Baseball League. Jason is the anchor up the middle of the diamond and the middle of the lineup since joining the team back in 2016. Jason thrives on the competitive nature of the game and cherishes the camaraderie he shares with his teammates.

Jason has led the team in multiple offensive categories every year and helped lead the Pirates to the regular season championships in 2016, 2018, and 2023. The Pirates were also the playoff champions in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In addition to his offensive success, Jason takes pride in his defense stealing some would-be hits.  In 2024 he helped the Pirates finish with a 14-4 regular season record.  They were knocked out of this year’s playoffs by the Expos, 4-3, after defeating the Red Sox in the first round.

Prior to joining the league at 27, Jason finished his college career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He played a pivotal role in leading the Trojans to their 1st NCAA tournament appearance in 2011, and capped off his senior season earning a spot on the All-Region team.
