How did you become involved with MSBL? Through a friend when I lived in Miami
How many years have you attended the World Series? Fall Classic? Other MSBL Regional Tournaments? This is my 5th time attending the World Series in the last 6 years. I also attended the Fall Classic in 2006. I also participated in the Texas Cup in several years in the 2010’s
Have you won any events? If so, please list them and their dates. I have not won any events
What do you do for a career? I do purchasing and estimating for a custom mill and lumber company catering to high end homes
Please list any family details: I’ve been married to my wife Emma for 17-1/2 years. She is a Project Manager for a food distribution company.
I have 5 children (ages 29, 23, 20, 14 & 13). My oldest (daughter) is a professional photographer. My two sons are both staff sports writers for their respective universities. My two youngest are in high school and junior high school, respectively. My high schooler is in color guard and my junior high schooler is in varsity choir even though she just turned 13. We also enjoy three grandsons.
What are the most significant moments for you as an adult baseball player? First and foremost, it’s the 5 Championships I’ve won over the years. 1 in the South Florida Baseball League and 4 in the Houston Hardball League. While those will always be special to me, one game stands out to me a lot. October 13, 2016, I pitched a complete game against a league rival. I allowed only 1 run. But the significance to me comes in that I had lost my grandmother earlier in that year and my uncle just a few weeks prior to that game. It was an emotional game for me and I couldn’t have been prouder of that accomplishment.
Which local league do you play in at home? I play in the 35+ Division of the Houston Hardball League. I am also the division commissioner
Do you have a favorite MSBL World Series moment? Getting to start a game on the mound at Goodyear Stadium.
How has playing in the MSBL/MABL affected your life? I play pretty much year round because I’m in Houston. I played all year round when I was in Miami. So for the most part, in 32 years, I’ve only take 1 year off from playing which was back in 2007, the year I moved to Houston. To answer the question, the MSBL encompasses my life a lot. And with coming to the World Series since 2019, I’m pretty much in recruitment mode almost all year long. I really enjoy the managing part and being the GM and putting teams together. It doesn’t always work out so well, but it’s always fun.
What are your future World Series team plans? After this year, I may be moving up in age brackets. But we’ll see how we do this year first before making that decision.
