Montebello Angels Cool Off Competition in 2024 MSBL National “Beat the Heat” Labor Day Tournament

The Montebello Angels captured the 45+ championship in the “Beat the Heat” Labor Day tournament with a record of 5-0. The Angels again were led by strong pitching which included complete games by Bobby Yanez, Luis Lira, Tony Cabrera, and Andy Torres. The team was on fire all weekend offensively, but a few standouts were Frank Medrano, Rudy Burruel, Lalo Saldivar, Charlie Valenzuela, Ivan Valencia, and Daniel Arruda.

The Angels defeated the Bakersfield Heat in the Semi-finals on Sunday night and thus setting up a rematch with a very strong Phoenix Padres team in the Championship game.

The Angels defeated the Padres by a score of 7-3 and thus capturing another Championship for the Montebello Angels, who have been together for over 20 years! As I have mentioned numerous times, the best part of the tournament play is the team being able to get together and enjoy time together as a family.
