MABL/MSBL Player of the Week: John Lane, Sacramento MSBL

Submitted by Scott Brown, Sacramento Seals manager

John Lane plays in the Sacramento MSBL and plays a lot.  He is currently playing 68s, 60s, 50 Sundays, and Summer 50s while wrapping up the 50 Spring campaign a few weeks ago.

On the Sunday Sacramento Seals a couple of weeks ago we played a double-header and Lane was right in the middle of things.  He is currently batting over .300 on that team and leads the team in RBIs.  In the second game of that doubleheader, Johnny had two hits in three at-bats, two RBI, and also had two stolen bases.  Lane played at Cal State Fullerton back in the day and brings it every game he plays.

The guys were joking that since he was playing like he was 50 on the field he may be playing like he was 50 later that night.  John is a great teammate, easy to coach, and is a general on the field helping out.  By the way, he has over 30 World Series rings.  And oh yes, he’s 73 years old!

(Editor’s note: John is a member of the MSBL World Series tournament-tested and chart-topping Sacramento Tribe)
