MABL/MSBL Player of the Week: Jo Jo McLaughlin, Central North Carolina MSBL

‘A Home Run Short of a Cycle’

2022 Raleigh Oaks win at Central North Carolina MSBLOn June 9th, Jo Jo McLaughlin logged quite a day for his Sanford Bulldogs in the 32-over division of the Central North Carolina MSBL.  He went 4 for 4 with a stolen base, scored two runs, had two RBI, and was only a home run short of the cycle in a 10-10 tie with the Raleigh Braves.

“My Sanford Bulldogs and I had a great day versus the Raleigh Braves.  I started off with an RBI triple, and scored a run in the first inning,” explained Jo Jo.  “My next at-bat was a rocket shot to left field for an RBI double, while again scoring.

I then hit for a single and stole a base.  Finally, someone mentioned the cycle so here we go. There were men on first and third and we’re trailing by one at this point.

I hit a grounder up the middle where their shortstop made a play but I beat the throw to first.  I ended up short of the cycle but we played hard against a very good team.”

Our goal at MSBL is to recognize any outstanding efforts nationwide.  Our ‘Players of the Week’ stories are not designed to honor just one person per week, but multiple players if warranted.  We have plenty of space so keep them coming!  Please forward any recommendations to me at [email protected].
