MABL/MSBL Player of the Week: Adam Wheeler, Indiana Baseball League

By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications

“Wheeler Hits for Cycle”

Logo of Indiana Baseball LeagueAdam Wheeler is the brother of Phillies Major League pitcher Zach Wheeler and plays in the 35-over division of the Indiana Baseball League, also for the Phillies.  Last week Adam hit for the cycle, including a Grand Slam home run!

Adam’s manager is Matt Longfellow.  Matt was kind enough to lend some commentary about Adam’s big day.

Adam is a veteran in our league that plays in multiple age divisions.  Adam’s passion for the game is unmatched.  Adam has been playing in league games, tournaments, etc. just for a chance to play the game.  Adam was a lethal lights-out ace pitcher but has become known as an elite hitter in our leagues as well.  He has been a multi-year MVP finalist and runner-up MVP many times.

In his big game, Adam walked, singled, doubled, tripled, and then capped it all off with a grand slam!  He was 4 for 4, hit for the cycle, including the grand slam, and notched eight RBI.  It was one of the greatest performances I have seen in the IBL/MSBL in my time back to 2011!”

Here is a short Facebook video of Adam’s big blast:

Our goal at MSBL is to recognize any outstanding efforts nationwide.  Our ‘Players of the Week’ stories are not designed to honor just one person per week, but multiple players if warranted.  We have plenty of space so keep them coming!  Please forward any recommendations to me at [email protected].
