7/2/2025…Pitcher/Outfielder Kalei Kover of the Adams Division Diablos has had an amazing run in the PSSBL since 2023. A veteran of eight seasons in the league, Kover just had his consecutive game on-base streak snapped at an incredible 50 games!
The streak started on May 16th in the second game of the 2023 Season. At the end of the ’23 Season, the on-base streak reached 24 games. Kover would also enjoy a 15-game hitting streak during that year. The on-base run carried through the 2024 Season, reaching 41 games by the end of the year. A dual threat, Kover was named the 2024 Adams Division Cy Young Award winner for his exploits on the mound.
On Opening Night of the 2025 Season versus the Adams River Bandits, it took a base on balls in the seventh inning to keep the streak alive. The on-base streak now stood at 42 games. The incredible run nearly ended on June 15th, but an eighth-inning single brought the streak to 48 games. Base hits in the next two contests brought the total to an astounding 50 games! Kover’s on-base streak ended June 29th against the Adams Mets with a fly ball to left field tracked and caught in his final plate appearance of the day.
Kalei Kover’s outstanding achievement, a 50-game consecutive on-base streak, spanned 775 calendar days. During the run, he recorded a .339 BA and a .435 OBP. For good measure, Kover’s pitching performance during the on-base streak deserves recognition: 135.1 IP, a 3.325 ERA, and 103 K’s. Well done, Kalei Kovar!
