Inaugural Donna Hughes Memorial 80-Over Tournament in Canton, Ohio was a Great Success

The Donna Hughes Memorial 80-Over Tournament was held last weekend in Canton, Ohio at Thurman Munson Stadium.

“This tournament was in memory of my loving wife, Donna, who died this past January,” said tournament organized George Hughes.  “She never stopped smiling and was a huge fan of MSBL baseball.”

George’s team, the Captains, prevailed and won the championship.

“This was without a doubt the best week of baseball that I have seen for quite a while. We had players from 12 different states plus two from Puerto Rico.

My three Daughters and Grandkids were there including my Granddaughter Laura and husband Mitch, and my 3-year-old great-granddaughter Josie came from South Carolina to surprise me.  Needless to say, the tears were flowing especially at National Anthem time.

We won it all with a 4-0 record, and four of our guys had inside-the-park home runs.  Without a doubt it will grow next year until we get to our 90 and over classic!
