Submitted by Matt Longfellow, manager/player, HC Phillies, Indiana Baseball League

In the 2017 Indiana Baseball League Hamilton County Phillies veteran Eric Teall returned for his 11th IBL season and fourth overall season with the Phillies. Eric is a multi-year Cy Young award winner, 10 time league All-Star, and the 2015 MSBL MVP. Eric makes the sacrifice to drive down all the way from Plymouth, Indiana, located near South Bend, down to the Indianapolis area as often as possible to join his Phillies teammates.

Eric Teall has put together many memorable performances in his IBL career but 2017 was one of the greatest we will ever witness. One of the most memorable performances from the 2017 regular season was Eric’s 11 inning, 180 pitch performance on the mound to lead the Phillies to an extra innings victory of the Indianapolis Giants. Eric was just warming up.

In the 2017 IBL postseason, Eric threw all 27 innings for the HC Phillies allowing just one earned run with an amazing 44 K’s to lead the Phillies to their first league championship! In the Quarterfinals, Eric threw a complete game 1-hit shutout w/ 14 total K’s in a 10-0 victory over the Indy Rangers. Eric also went 2-4 at the plate. In the Semi-Finals, Eric held the high powered Indy Howl to just one run on five hits with a total of ten strikeouts. Eric also blasted a 2-RBI home run which was the difference in score for most of the game.

Just when we thought Teall had done his best he comes out in the Championship game to shut down the Indianapolis Giants with an amazing 20 K’s in nine innings of work. Eric once again went 2-4 at the plate as the Phillies rolled to a 10-2 victory over the Giants in the Championship game. Eric Teall not only leads the HC Phillies to their first league championship but cements his name as a true IBL/MSBL legend! Below are Eric Teall’s official 2017 IBL MSBL Postseason Stats:

QUARTERFINALS: HC Phillies defeat Indy Rangers, 10-0. On the mound: Complete Game 1-Hit Shutout w/ 14 K’s. At the plate: 2-4 w/ 2-R & 2-1B
