Champions Crowned at Val Lewis Father/Son Father’s Day Tournament Hosted by Sacramento MSBL
“The Val Lewis Father/Son Tournament over Father’s Day weekend was a success and bigger this year, with 14 teams,” stated Sacramento MSBL League President Alan Van Ness. “All three Championship games were close.”
“I need to thank Mike Pankow as tournament director and of course Val Lewis for his leadership and passion.
In the championship games, The Sacramento Braves defeated Tabu, 9-8 in the top National Division, the Sacramento Murder Hornets beat the Tri-Valley Giants, 8-7 in the American Division, while the North Bay Sox took the Central Division title with a 9-6 victory over the Crew.”
“The highlight or most exciting play of the day was actually inside the dugout and not a play at all,” added Greg Reason. “One of our teammates, Chris Bush, collapsed and passed out in the dugout, narrowly missing hitting his head on the bench. He was having a seizure and wasn’t breathing.
His eyes had rolled up so all you could see were the whites. Briana, my #3 granddaughter, immediately took over the situation and began telling the rest of us what to do. Chris ended up having 5-way heart bypass surgery and is doing well.”
MSBL will be publishing a separate story shortly about the entire event and spotlight the heroes who were there to help save Chris.
