Salt Lake Bees Dominate Mustangs on Way to 60+ Division Championship of 2026 MSBL Las Vegas Open
The Salt Lake Bees faced their longtime rivals, the East Coast Mustangs Baseball Club, in the Championship. Fortunately, the Bees had a come-from-behind victory to beat the Mustangs in pool play, scoring two in the bottom of the ninth inning to win 5-4.
Getting the bye into the Championship was huge. The Mustangs were clearly worn out when we faced them in the final. The Bees scored four runs in the first three innings, then erupted for 11 runs in the fourth to break it open. Our legs were fresh, and we kept the pressure on with our base running, frustrating the Mustangs’ starting pitcher, Jeff Hunter.
Anthony Duran pitched all five innings for the Bees with no earned runs, only allowing three hits and two walks, while striking out three.
Leadoff Batter/Manager Randy Miles went 4-4 with four runs scored, while Phil Young was 3-3 with a Sac Fly. The following also contributed with two hits each: Dave Carter, Andy Campbell, Brett Blackburn, Craig Aramaki, Jim Bittner, and Neil Warner. The Bees had 21 hits in five innings.
This is the Bees second 60+ championship this year, also winning the Las Vegas Kick-off Classic!
