2026 MSBL Player Profile: Ivan Sciupac, Delco MSBL and BuxMont MSBL

Ivan Sciupac’s baseball story doesn’t follow the typical path. Born in Argentina—where baseball isn’t exactly the national pastime—Ivan lived there until he was 10 years old, with only a brief earlier stint in the United States. Despite baseball eventually becoming such a big part of his life, he didn’t even pick up the game until he was about 11 or 12 years old in his local little league.

It wasn’t until 2011 that he found his way back to the diamond when he joined the DCMSBL in Virginia. Like many players who rediscover the game as adults, Ivan quickly proved that the time away hadn’t dulled his love for baseball—or his ability to compete.

His first DCMSBL team was the Nationals, and that core group of players stayed together under a variety of team names for years. Even after eventually relocating to Pennsylvania, Ivan still occasionally makes the trip back to Virginia to play a game with those longtime teammates.

But it was his arrival in the Delco MSBL with the Marauders where Ivan truly cemented his reputation. The Marauders compete in a 25+ men’s hardball league, and at 50 years old, Ivan continues to prove that experience, preparation, and toughness can more than hold their own against players decades younger.

From the moment he joined the club, Ivan became a cornerstone of the Marauders organization.

Primarily a catcher—despite constant questions from friends about how his knees still hold up—Ivan has also proven himself as a versatile player who can step into the middle infield or take the mound when needed. His reliability behind the plate, toughness, and baseball IQ have made him one of the most trusted players on the field.

More importantly, Ivan is the type of player every team needs but few truly have. While he has never sought the spotlight or the title, he naturally commands respect in the clubhouse. Teammates consistently look to him for guidance, and managers have always valued his insight and leadership. Even back in Virginia he was treated like an unofficial captain. When asked why he never wanted to officially manage, Ivan’s answer was simple—he just wanted to play the game.

That mindset has made him the perfect fit for the Marauders. His steady presence, competitive fire, and quiet leadership have helped shape the culture of the team and make the clubhouse stronger.

When the decision was made for the family to move from Virginia to Pennsylvania, most people would have started by researching homes, jobs, or schools. Ivan’s first move? He Googled “MSBL in Pennsylvania.” He just wanted to make sure he’d have a place to keep playing baseball.

Fortunately for the Marauders, he found exactly that.

While playing with the Marauders, Ivan has also spent the past six seasons with the Sanatoga Dodgers of the BuxMont MSBL, a 45+ league, where he has been just as impactful. Serving as the Dodgers’ #1 catcher, #1 pitcher, and one of their most reliable hitters, Ivan has been the definition of consistency both at the plate and in the field. In fact, the Sanatoga Dodgers have appeared in five championship games in their six seasons of existence, due in large part to Ivan’s outstanding play.

Appropriately enough, Ivan is also a die-hard Los Angeles Dodgers fan, making his time with the Sanatoga Dodgers feel like a perfect fit.

One of Ivan’s most memorable MSBL moments came when he had the opportunity to play in a game against former Major League All-Star Jayson Werth, a moment that quickly became a great story around the league.

Off the field, Ivan’s life is just as full as his baseball schedule. He met his wife Liz in 2008, got engaged in 2011, and the two were married in 2012. They’ll celebrate 14 years of marriage in July of 2026.

Together they’re raising two young ballplayers of their own—Nico (11, almost 12, which he’ll remind you matters a lot) and Luca (9). Baseball is truly a family affair: Ivan coaches Nico’s rec team while Liz coaches Luca’s. Both boys also play travel ball and enjoyed tremendous success this past summer—Nico’s team won the state championship, while Luca’s team captured a district title.

Between family, coaching, and continuing to compete at a high level himself, Ivan continues to live and breathe the game he rediscovered years ago.

And for the Marauders, that passion, leadership, and steady presence make Ivan Sciupac not just a teammate—but one of the true pillars of the organization.

From all of us at the Marauders & Dodgers, we truly love you dearly Ivan. Thanks for all you do. ⚾
