2026 MSBL Player Profile: Jack McKenzie, Miami Valley Adult Baseball League (Dayton, OH)

Submitted by Rob Johnson, League Assistant

Jack McKenzie has quickly established himself as one of the premier players in the MVABL and a driving force behind the Waynesville Grizzlies. In just two seasons, he has gone from a waiver wire pickup to League MVP, cementing his place as a key piece of the Grizzlies franchise.

A Gold Glove-winning center fielder, McKenzie combines elite range, instincts, and closing speed to anchor the Grizzlies’ defense. His ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball separates him from the rest of the league.

As the Grizzlies’ leadoff hitter, McKenzie sets the tone from the first pitch. During his 2025 MVP season, he hit an incredible .532 (33-for-62), scoring 26 runs, driving in 25, and stealing 19 bases in just 18 games. His consistent ability to get on base and apply pressure makes him the spark that starts the engine of the Grizzlies lineup.

He also contributed on the mound, posting a 3.75 ERA with 15 strikeouts across five appearances, along with a win and a save.

McKenzie earned 2025 All-Star honors and captured the league’s MVP award in commanding fashion, receiving 60 percent of the first-place votes. This followed his 2024 All-Star and Rookie of the Year season, marking a rapid and undeniable rise.

Baseball is a family affair for McKenzie. His father serves as the Grizzlies’ first base coach, while his brother, Sam, anchors third base, making their presence a defining part of the team’s identity.

From the University of Dayton Baseball Club to MVABL Rookie of the Year, to Gold Glove winner and MVP, Jack McKenzie has had quite an amazing baseball journey the last few years, and he’s just getting started.
