Athletic Knit Announced as Official Uniform Company of the Men’s Senior Baseball League

By Steve LaMontia-Carlentini, MSBL Director of Communications
(From the Athletic Knit official website) ‘Athletic Knit is a team uniform manufacturer that offers the largest in-stock programs and has been serving customers worldwide for over 50 years. The one-stop shop for all your team uniform needs.’
The Athletic Knit mission statement sounds like many others you may have reviewed in your quest to find quality team uniforms for whatever sport you are involved in. However, MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler saw something in this company that sets them apart. He has decided to throw his support behind Athletic Knit and encourage MSBL members to check them out.
“We are happy to welcome Athletic Knit as the official uniform company of the Men’s Senior Baseball League,’ said Sigler. “With a long tradition in ice hockey, AK is now able to offer its exceptional quality craftsmanship to all MSBL Members.”
Now it’s my turn to dig in a little with the company and relay to you exactly what you need to do to research your team’s needs further. I started by having a discussion with Rob Brandt, Regional Sales Manager, based at the company headquarters in Toronto, smack in the middle of hockey territory, but very successfully involved in outfitting baseball teams.
“Athletic Knit delivers high-quality, fully customizable team apparel with complete in-house manufacturing,” explained Brandt. “This ensures reliable timelines, consistent quality, and performance gear trusted by teams at every level. We pride ourselves on top-end craftsmanship and premier customer service, a commitment that has been central to Athletic Knit since our founding in 1962.”

So, I sharpened my pencil and asked a few questions that may interest you, including contact details and how you can get a quote and place an order. Baseball season is upon us!
Why Toronto? What is the history of Athletic Knit?
“We are based in a suburb of Toronto, where the grandfather of the current president started the company in 1962,” said Rob. “We house Sales, Production, and Management all in one 150,000 square foot facility. Nothing is outsourced. We fully control all customized products. We are a high-premium, world-class facility.”
Rob has been associated with Athletic Knit for a total of eight years, seven as a sales rep, and is now wearing the title of sales manager.
“All of our reps are based in Toronto, with occasional trips throughout the regions. Hockey is our bread and butter, with baseball the next biggest sport. I started researching adult baseball leagues, and MSBL topped every category I Googled.
It was a no-brainer to reach out to Steve Sigler and start the conversation on how we can help the members. I emailed Steve, arranged a call, and then sent some samples. He was taken back with the quality of work and the potential pricing.
We were fortunate to visit the MSBL World Series in Arizona and talk with a lot of people. I am encouraged by the response.”
Do you specialize in team uniforms and design, or can players contact Athletic Knit for single orders for the product?
“We concentrate on team uniform orders, but still do onesies. Leagues are also the emphasis. We will get the best pricing, even for a single order. Quality is a big effort. We do have authorized dealers for retail, and some just have samples. But we can navigate through most situations for you directly. Just pick up the phone.” (contact information below)
Some people are concerned about how tariffs may impact pricing when ordering outside of the United States. What is Athletic Knit doing to combat that?
“We decided to back off on any increase or pass along the tariff cost to a consumer. Nothing is impacting the best possible price to a team or their league.
Our philosophy is to swallow the tariff impact and help as many teams as possible at a slimmer margin.
If the cost of goods or labor increases, as they always do, we may have to make an adjustment, but never because of tariff fees. We absorb those fees to ensure that we remain competitive, and pass along the best prices and quality possible.”
How can league presidents, team managers, or individual players contact Athletic Knit to check out team pricing and view the products?
“Personal contact is what we are all about,” explained Rob. “You can visit our website at https://www.athleticknit.com/ to check out styles, materials, and pricing. Or give me a call or shoot me an email. Here is my information:

“Our custom products are proudly made in Canada. We are confident that personal contact will lead to team sales and that word of mouth will also be very beneficial in the adult baseball community. We want to make sure that everyone has access to quality products at fair prices.
We also don’t charge people until the order is shipped out the door, and our products are all union-made, with no sweatshops or similar labor practices involved. We stay true to our mission.”
We asked Rob about their association with Game One, the company that is responsible for producing all of the MSBL gear that you can access on the MSBL website home page.

“Athletic Knit and Game One are partners,” explained Rob. “They are one of our dealers that I trusted to bring into the fold on this project to help provide another layer of top-end service, along with their in-depth knowledge of the baseball market throughout the USA.”
