Milwaukee Rangers 1, Rochester Red Wings 0

Submitted by Mickey Pruefer, Rangers’ manager
The championship game between the Milwaukee Rangers and the Rochester Red Wings ended 1-0, taking only one hour and 45 minutes to complete! The lone run was scored in the bottom of the eighth.
The eighth inning started with a lead-off single up the middle for the Rangers by Jim Schmor. Jon Knudson came on to run for Schmor, and then Jose Alba’s spinning single sent Knudson to third.
Al Albert was next up and hit a whistler down the third base line that splattered Knudson squarely in the back in foul territory. But on the next pitch, Albert singled up the middle, knocking in Knudson for the game’s lone run.
Mark Holzman was awarded the championship game MVP for throwing a complete-game shutout.
The tournament MVP was Matt Sanfelippo, going 20-36 for the week.
