What is the name of your team(s) this year? We are the Houston Cyclones
What division(s) will you be playing in? We are playing in the 45+ Cactus Division
Are you managing or playing in more than one week? I wish I were. I’m only playing in week 3. I did, however, recently play in the Texas Cup tournament here in Houston as a tune-up for the World Series.
How long have you been involved in the MSBL? I’ve been involved with the MSBL for 33 years now, and this is my 30th year managing a team.
How did you become involved with MSBL? A long time ago, in the early 90s, a friend asked me to join his newly formed baseball team. I’ve been playing ever since.
How many years have you attended the World Series? Fall Classic? Other MSBL Regional Tournaments? This is my sixth year attending the World Series. I also participated in the Fall Classic back in 2006. I have also participated in nine Texas Cup tournaments throughout Texas.
Have you won any events? If so, please list them and their dates. I have not won any events, but I have been to the championship on three occasions, most recently last year in the World Series.
What do you do for a career? I’m a Senior Estimator and Purchasing Agent for a custom mill and lumber company catering to high-end homes in the Greater Houston area.
Please list any family details, if you wish. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Emma for 18-1/2 years. She’s a Project Manager for one of the largest food distribution companies in the US. I have five adult and two teenage children, as well as three grandchildren.
What are the most significant moments for you as an adult baseball player? I’ve won seven championships over the years, but the two most recent were this past Spring and Fall for back-to-back championships. That was pretty significant for me.
And the other most significant moment for me was when I pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a K at Minute Maid Park during our league All-Star Game in 2015.
Which local league do you play in at home? I play in and am the commissioner for the Houston Hardball League. My Houston Cyclones team participates in the 35+ Sunday Division.
Do you have a favorite MSBL World Series moment? Last year’s World Series. We finished as the #1 seed for the 40+ Central Division and made it to the Championship game. We played 9 games in 6 days. What a run we had!
How has playing in the MSBL/MABL affected your life? The MSBL has been a part of my life for 33 years. I’ve met countless friends over all those years. I’ve met friends and teammates from all over the world, from Delaware, Philadelphia, New York, Nebraska, Colorado, Indiana, California, Louisiana, Florida, Illinois, Arizona to Puerto Rico, Canada, and even Australia. The MSBL has given me a lifetime of relationships and memories I will always cherish
What are your future World Series team plans? I’m going to keep playing baseball and keep coming back to Phoenix as long as I can. And I hope to start playing in some regional tournaments
