2024 Father/Son Cactus
Waikiki Beach Boys 6, Sacramento Ranch Blue Dogs 0
Submitted by Gary Firestone, Beach Boys manager
This was the Waikiki Beach Boys’ 10th year in father-son competition and our fourth championship. Sorry to say, this will be our last, as my son Clay will turn 25 next year and be eligible for our 25 over Sunday league here in Los Angeles so we can play every week together all summer instead of just four days a year in Arizona.
I want to thank both Steve and Brian Sigler for allowing us to play in this amazing tournament for the last 10 years, and Val Lewis and Jeff Turner for all of their hard work as well.
Our MVP this year was an 18-year-old kid named Jason Torres Jr. All he did was catch three games and pitch the other three. Also, while hitting each game in the 5-hole he was one of the top three kids in batting average and RBI’S. Not bad for a kid who just graduated high school!
